travel tips

  • Respect temple rules — sarongs required; many temples provide them for free.

  • Scooters are popular but risky — only drive if you’re experienced; otherwise hire a driver.

  • Ubud for culture, Seminyak/Canggu for beaches, Uluwatu for cliffs — choose your base wisely. I prefer Ubud because it's a bit less hectic but you can't deny the vibes in Seminyak/Canguu.

  • Avoid touching or feeding wild monkeys — especially in Monkey Forest.

  • Check visa requirements — many travelers need a Visa on Arrival and extension if staying 30+ days.

  • Be mindful of local customs — pointing with your feet or touching heads is considered disrespectful.

  • Watch the ocean conditions — Bali's rip tides can be strong, even for swimmers.
